Effect of Chloride ConceEfntration on Gold Recovery in the Pressure Oxidation Process Amy Ng (Speaker) and Ida Fok
Pressure oxidation of gold ores refers to oxidation of
sulfides, such as pyrite (FeS2) and marcasite (FeS2) at elevated temperature
and pressure. During oxidation, encapsulated gold grains are released to
enhance gold recovery in subsequent leaching steps. Hence, it is important
to predict gold dissolution in pressure oxidation to establish process
conditions that minimize the loss of gold in solution. |

Amy Ng, HATCH Amy Ng is a process engineer with experiences in basic and detailed design of several alumina, nickel/cobalt, potash and gold plants. She is proficient in the development of PFDs, P&IDs and process control related documents. She also has experiences in mass and energy balance using METSIM and OLI. Process modeling areas include various areas in alumina refinery using SysCAD, and pressure oxidation and pressure leaching autoclaves using METSIM. Amy received her B.A.Sc and M.A.Sc degrees in chemical engineering and applied chemistry from the University of Toronto in Canada. Ida Fok, HATCH Ida Fok is a senior process engineer with thirty-two years of experience in process design, control and simulation in mining and petroleum refining industries. Mining experience included the use of METSIM by Proware to develop process simulation models for pressure oxidation and leaching autoclaves. Simulation modeling is also used in other processes such as ore treatment, grinding, acidulation, heat optimization, thickening, counter current decantation (CCD), neutralization, carbon-in-leach recovery, solvent extraction, ion exchange and electrowinning. Ida is Hatch global consultant for METSIM and teaches METSIM to external companies. Ida received her B.A. Sc and M.A.Sc degrees in chemical engineering from the University of Ottawa in Canada.
