“Proving & Quantifying” Actual Causes of Deterioration in DGA Amine System using Corrosion Simulation & CFD Modeling Regan Pooran, VP-Spec Historically plants have entirely relied on results from internal inspections, corrosion monitoring with coupons and probes, online thickness measurements, and process constituent monitoring to assess the equipment integrity and prevent equipment failures. However, these results produce either coincidental or lagging indication of deterioration activity within the equipment. For systems that can incur significant economic and safety consequences, if failures happen, these indications of deterioration activity are simply not enough. In these systems, predictive indications> and parameter sensitivity studies of deterioration activity is additionally required for optimum equipment reliability and integrity management. This presentation discusses the application of Computational Fluid Dynamics (Fluent Inc. CFD Modeling) and Corrosion Simulation (OLI Systems) to predict and study the parameter effects of erosion and corrosion activity in a Refinery Amine System. |
